Holes at Valhalla That Should Be Excited -- 601 yard, par-5 6th

The Ryder Cup starts in just a few days and there is never a better time to start talking about it than right now! I will be evaluating a few holes at Valhalla that should make for some excitement, both because of eagles and doubles.

The first hole is the 601-yard par-5 sixth hole, the first par-5 on the golf course for the players. Made exactly for this tournament, the fairway is split and if you risk it and try for the left fairway, only 24 yards wide, you shorten the hole substantially. If you don't, you're facing a 600-yard par-5 that is nearly unreachable. The fun part of this hole is obviously with the risk reward. If you decide to try the shorter, tighter, route, you still have a 230-yard approach over water for your second shot. The big question here -- if J.B. Holmes pumps one to the left, leaving him a reachable approach shot, what does the European opponent do?
