I Just Don't Get It

That is Boo Weekley talking about stuff. I don't get the hype. I don't get it at all. The guy drives me as insane as right-to-left five footers (I'm a lefty).

Explain to me the love for this guy please. I just can't get it.

Shane,
You don't get it because you are young, handsome, flat bellied, grew up playing golf, and live in the desert. Boo appeals to all of us who are not as young as you, not as handsome as you, rounder than you, did not grow up playing golf, and have either a southern heritage or a soft spot for folks from the south. Boo is also one hell of a golfer with no back down whatsoever in him, and who genuinely appreciates his fans and has not forgotten his humble beginnings....So there is a lot to like about him. I agree that the camo is a bit much, but part of me thinks that he is a little "crazy like a fox"...and he sure as hell knows how to work those talking heads (loved his comment to Cellini about "wearin all this makeup"). Anyway, I think Boo is good for the game because he brings in fans who don't have much in common with DLIII, Tiger, Sergio, etc - and we sure need as many fans as we can get...

he hits his irons like gangbusters. i don't really mind the whole "aw schucks" thing, but it's who he is and it could be worse.

i take more offense with the attention paid to camillo villegas than i do with boo.

Fair enough to both arguments. I just think it is a little bit of a show. I really, really lost interest with Boo when he didn't know when the Masters were.

I have never met a golfer EVER that didn't know that.

Wow. I've never heard anyone on that side of the pond say that. I'm not so sure either but he can swing a golf club! Rides 'em well too apaprently.

shane...i agree, im pretty sure it's all for show. tho that scene with him and AK at the players with the turtle was hilarious (can't find a youtube tho...).

still...when i saw him at the bridgestone in akron in 2007 hitting his irons on the range, i was sold. i don't care how players act/talk/dress, just how they strike it, and few strike it like boo.
