Ryd...ERRR...Travistock Cup

If you're bored at home, sitting around in your boxers, eating nachos just waiting for the 6 PM Sportscenter, tune to the Golf Channel for probably the most underrated exciting sporting event of the year.

The Travistock Cup is a money game between two courses in Florida which so happens to include guys like Tiger Woods, Chris Dimarco and Ernie Els. Yeah, a little more competitive than Marshall Lakeside Country Club and Oaklawn Municipal in my hometown.

I hate to say it, but this is way more interesting than any of the four rounds of Doral last week. Sadly the most interesting subplot I've heard is that the guy leading the longest drive is at 273 yards! Are they hitting five woods? Are they forced to play a Balata?

El Tigre wins!!!!! (In other news, grass grows and dogs bark)

Just in case you missed it this weekend, Tiger Woods defeated some guy named Brett Wetterich that looked like he was more pissed he missed the NASCAR race than his birdie putt on 18.

I will never be one of those obsessive Tiger fans that nearly passes out when he rolls in a 20 footer, but this IS Tiger's third consecutive victory at Doral and his 13th World Golf Championship victory. Also, something that I have always found is mentioned less and less, Tiger has played in four (4!!!!) tournaments this season and is third in FedEx Cup points, trailing Vijah Singh and Charles Howell III who have combined to play in 19 tournaments. Stuff like that makes me want to text "Douchebag" to Vijah this Monday morning.

The Tiger-Federer Man Crush

Enjoying ones company is perfectly normal, but ogling over someone to the point that you’re paying fines is quite another.
This is what has been going on lately with Tiger Woods and Roger Federer, both the best in the world at what they do and both enjoying the largest man crush on the planet (maybe second to Peyton and Kenney).
I just don’t really believe that the two have handled this the correct way.
Sure, it would be easy to become friends with a person you can actually relate to. I mean, Tiger plays a sport where egos come as often as birdies. Kids in golf grow up thinking they are the most important person on the links, mostly because junior golf organizations treat them as such. To be good at the sport, you have to carry a certain bravado that makes you believe you can hit it straighter than the next Waldo and sink the putt that matters.
Tennis stars like Andy Roddick have displayed the same emotions in the yellow ball sport. Menacing actions create an intimidating atmosphere.
With that said, the two probably have a lot in common (besides the whole, Switzerland/America differences).
My only complaint is going beyond the line of “hey bud, wanna meet up for a beer” and “walking together awkwardly in hopes of making a news story.”
Remember, Tiger is probably the dorkiest superstar on the planet. Hanging out with dudes isn’t going to change that image
