David Feherty Is Mad At You (And Me!)

I think it's time we establish something about the Tiger Woods mess, and it's a feeling we've all had at some point over the last two weeks. While it does suck that this is a real person's life, and these are serious issues he and his wife are dealing with, the level of celebrity that Tiger has reached makes this news. Bottom line.

I'm not happy that it happened, mostly because I've been a Tiger Woods fan for a long time and always thought he hung the moon when it came to sports (and life), and since all this shit has hit the fan all those feelings are gone. It is almost like he cheated on you and me, because the dirty feeling that has come with it makes everyone feel a little gross. Like we were duped by someone we thought we knew.

Here is what I don't get ... some people are fuming because this stuff is being reported. I'm not one to sling mud at people, and if Chris DiMarco cheated on his wife I'm sure it would be a story (or not) but it would pass over after a day or so. DiMarco isn't news. Tiger is. That's the burden you carry when you convince everyone of the person you are and then completely flip the switch like you're having a sex change or something.

David Feherty, who we all can agree is as good as it gets when it comes to golf broadcasting, is one of those in an uproar about all the coverage. He said the following when asked about the Tiger situation.

"I'm sick of it, all the coverage," Feherty fumed. "Lord knows, my private life is ghastly, so when I see someone's private business talked about night and day, over and over, it bothers me. It's a bad state of affairs [in the media]. You're talking about other people's misery, and this has been all over the tabloid shows," even Nancy Grace, the HLN program that sometimes covers missing-person cases. "I wouldn't mind a show on how she disappears. Everyone is so nosy. I can see it now. This is gonna be a movie. There will be books. You know, people have a right to work through problems on their own, without all the attention. Tiger plays golf, but he's a very private figure. The way the tabloids feast on private misery makes me sick and angry."

Okay, it is a fair point to say you are sick of it, but it is rather short-sighted to think that this is a problem with the media. Basically, blogs/websites/television shows and everything else has just become a way to broadcast what everyone is already talking about around the water cooler. It gives people a chance to discuss things that we couldn't discuss back when technology was minimal, and if you read over this particular blog, you'd see a golf fan disappointing in his superstar and that's about it.

Yes, there are jokes. Yes, the situation has become so bizarre that it feels anything could happen at this point and we wouldn't be surprised. That still doesn't make it wrong for us to write about someone like Tiger and his personal life.

Our media has done it forever, and it will continue like this for as long as there is a computer and a keyboard. At least we aren't joking about killing Tiger for his problems. Now that would be bad.

You Like Apples? Well, John Daly Wants Matt Damon to Play Him in a Movie ... How Do You Like Those Apples?

I believe John Daly when he says he has changed. He sure seems a bit more together these days and, well, after all the Tiger Woods news Daly could wreck his RV into a military hospital while drinking Jack Daniels and still wouldn't have as tarnished an image.

With that said, I'd like to personally congratulate Daly on making me spit out my coffee this morning while reading about his ideas for a movie about himself. Read that again. John Daly wants someone to produce a movie about him! Cue the steel guitar!

"I just saw Matt Damon, how he swung a golf club, and I thought if I ever made a movie, I want him to be me," Daly said. "The tough part is who would play me at 290 pounds. Now Kevin James, he's my bud, but he'd be good."

When asked what the main storyline might be, he said: "It would just be the life, it would be the whole thing. The guts of it all."

"The problem is who is going to play all the ex-wives?" added Daly, who has four ex-wives, to laughter.

So, basically this would be Bagger Vance meets Happy Gilmore, only with more trashed hotel rooms and songs about Rolexes.

The good news is, even if Damon decided to take this role, which would be very, very unlikely, it still wouldn't trump that decision he made to be a part of "Stuck on You," the movie equivalent of banging a porn star when you're married.

The only downside to this decision is that Daly wants to include Kevin James, who makes me laugh as much as tsunamis. If that happens I will not be paying any amount of dinero to go see this. PAUL BLART MALL COP I HOPE YOU CHOKE ON YOUR WHISTLE!

Tiger Woods Should Probably Invest in a Cold Shower

I'm not a genius by any means (even though my mom would argue against that), but I do know a little about girls. Here, I'll let you in on the secret.

If you're banging ten different ladies, most likely, 99.9 percent of the time, one of them is a little crazy. Especially when they know you're famous and rich ... oh, and married. They also know you're married, so they're probably going to talk when shit starts to hit the fan.

Oh, would you lookie there, Tiger Woods is linked to another girl!

On Sunday, the New York Daily News outed who they say is one of Woods' former mistresses, 31-year-old divorced mom Cori Rist. According to the News, the two met at the New York club Butter last year.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old former cocktail waitress from Orlando, Fla. has hired Florida lawyer Michael O’Quinn for representation. The woman was reportedly bragging about her alleged two-year affair with Woods before and during his marriage to Elin Nordengren. O’Quinn claims his still-unidentified client does not want to be named yet in light of her current “corporate job.”

Two more alleged mistresses have been fingered by the British press. The Sun reports one is a television broadcaster, and another is a mysterious “sex-addicted cougar.”

At this point, it's almost easier to put together a list of people Tiger hasn't slept with. I'll start the list.

1.) Me
2.) Barack Obama
3.) Lindsay Lohan

Let me know if you need to be added to the list! I was going to put Jay Busbee on it, but that guy tends to be a little frisky when he starts drinking wine. Watch out, ladies!

SNL Piles on Tiger Woods

As you probably guessed, Saturday Night Live weighed in on the Tiger Woods situation this week on their show, which was hosted by Blake Lively.

Honestly, I had absolutely zero idea who Blake Lively was before this, and even was thinking during the skit, "Man, that Elin actress girl is super hot." It appears that is Blake, and, well, yes, she is still hot. I like her. Think she dates bloggers?

Oh, well, here is the Tiger SNL skit. I'm not one to point out details, but couldn't they have at least got a Nike shirt with the swoosh on the front? Tiger has never wore the Swoosh-sleeve before.

The Week That Would Never End

You'll remember this week in the future. It's the week that Tiger Woods weaseled away from perfect specimen and entered our world. Where life isn't so easy and shit sucks and bills pile up and relationships are stressful.

Not only was it weird from a golf writer's perspective, but it is one of the more pressing weeks in blogosphere history. Sports, news, gossip, mainstream ... you name it, they reported on it.

So, I'd like to leave you with this before the weekend begins. It's Tiger Woods shot at the 2005 Masters. In my lifetime, it's probably the craziest and most impressive thing I've ever seen in sports. Perfect timing, perfect setting, perfect execution, and a perfect call.

I guess my point is this ... in the coming months, stuff will still be revealed about Tiger and the clouds will hang, but at the end of the day, the guy is still a PGA Tour golfer, and probably the best we will ever see. Maybe it isn't the right time to remember him for what he has done well, but enough dirt has been kicked around.

So, without further ado, in your lifeeeee have you seen anything like that?

Have a good weekend. Go Wildcats.

Tiger Woods' Week Continues to Improve

Tiger Woods' week started off terrible, with news coming out that not only did he and his wife maybe/possibly/kinda get in some sort of golf club-wielding fight, resulting in a wrecked reputation Escalade, but he also was cheating on his wife with a few ladies that he kept around.

But things are looking for for Tiger, and by looking up, I mean areyoufuckingkiddingme.

Radar reports ...

Now we've learned that (Rachel) Uchitel told friends that she and Tiger liked to have sex while taking the drug Ambien. Uchitel told one pal, 'You know you have crazier sex on Ambien - you get into that Ambien haze. We have crazy Ambien sex.'"

At this point, I think I'd believe anything. Anything. If it turned out Tiger killed Michael Jackson or had an affair with Phil Mickelson, I wouldn't be surprised at all. At all.

I'm not sure a person's reputation could tank faster than this. It isn't like Ambien is a horrible drug (I've never taken it, but I was also spun from an angel's wing), but it doesn't help your situation when someone flashes "Tiger Took Drugs Before Banging Other Chick." All that headline is missing is "murder."

Talking Tiger Woods With Dan Levy

Dan Levy, of On the DL fame, was nice enough to have me on the show on Thursday, chatting about Phil Mickelson and his outlook on 2010. Actually, hold on a second.

Nope, I'm getting word that part was cut out for something on Tiger Woods having affairs. I'm not too familiar with what this subject is about, but I guess we talked about it. Again, no clue. I thought Tiger was married?

Anyway, click it and listen if you wouldn't mind. Dan is a great dude, and extremely talented, so it would actually be ignorant of you not to go listen.
